About

Welcome to my website!  My name is Hope, and I started p.s. bonjour to explore “la joie de vivre” (the joy of living!) through travel, food and drink, and home decor/design.  I am a Canadian by birth living in Ohio in the US now who loves all things vintage, handmade, and French. I am a creator/maker, a writer, photographer, and musician and this is where I share those parts of me with you all. 🙂

On Travel

As Mark Twain said “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” I also find that getting out of my little area of the world and into other areas inspires me, refreshes me, and renews me to face other challenges that life brings.

On Food

I love to cook, especially slowly on a weekend or something when I don’t have any deadlines and can pour a glass of wine and experiment. Or my husband and I will fire up the smoker and let something cook all day, while we catch up on magazines or read a book. I am no expert, so my recipes are easy to make and never perfect! My goal is to try new foods, eat healthy (well, sometimes you have to splurge!), keep it simple and enjoy myself in the kitchen.

On Home

Home is where the heart is. Home is where you hang your hat. So when I’m not traveling, I believe in nesting and making my home a place I want to be and a place I want to share. I’m fond of vintage goods and try to use finds from trips to flea markets or my travels abroad to decorate my home. I suppose that’s also why I’m drawn to living like a local when I travel, it’s fun to find other “homes” around the world.

Thanks for checking out my corner of the internet – I hope you’ll return again and again. 🙂
